A downloadable Interactive Soundtrack for Windows

This is first and foremost a soundtrack and ambience generator I made for a D&D adventure I run. It is a Forgotten Realms fan project that I created to use as a backdrop in a tabletop adventure I'm currently running. Click around and find about four hours of unique music (that's a conservative estimate as most of the music's structure and nearly all of the ambience is generated at runtime).

You can buy the soundtrack here:

NOTE THAT THIS PROJECT IS DESIGNED TO BE LEFT ON IN THE BACKGROUND AND INTERACTED WITH VERY INFREQUENTLY. IT IS INTENDED AS A GAME PIECE FOR A TABLETOP GAME, NOT AS A STANDALONE GAME.

Its most prominent feature is a very detailed map of my version of the city of Murann, a bustling seaside metropolis in the south of Faerûn where the Dragon's Neck Peninsula meets the Forest of Tethyr, in the Forgotten Realms setting (originally created by Ed Greenwood). My adventure takes place on the in 1436 DR (roughly halfway between the events described in source material for 3rd edition and 4th/5th edition D&D), several decades after the region recovered from the Spellplague, a massive coastline-altering earthquake, and the tyrannical rule of the Sothillisian Empire. I take some liberties with the presentation but the content is mostly in line with published material describing the past of the region, so it should feel like a reasonable addition to your homebrew Forgotten Realms adventure.

Credits:
Drew Peters helped with some drums and percussion, Colby Hester did lots of the solo cello, Andre Beller recorded some violins, Joanna Fang took photos of my maps, Moreno Paissan did the gorgeous illustration of Velen, and I used a bunch of Foley recordings Reece Miller sent me. Wyattari (https://wyattari.itch.io/) had some super helpful Unity tips for me. Speaking of which, I made everything else in Unity, Reaper, CS Paint, and GIMP (and watercolor on paper haha!)

p.s. you can control the red dragon in Murann with a famous series of inputs (use return/enter in place of start)

Known issues as of v0.9.01:

  • “Combat” state inaccessible if music hasn’t started yet
  • Location buttons are disconnected when map is in the “Pub” state
  • Main menu visuals occasionally don’t load when leaving another scene
  • “Visual Settings” menu doesn’t carry settings between scenes
  • Seagulls and wake from ships remains lit when scene becomes dark
  • Dragon can get lost out of bounds if under user’s control, have been known to fly backwards
  • Scroll Wheel zoom speed in Velen map is unnecessarily supercharged

I appreciate your comments if you find other issues or bugs!
